Training for home care supporters for people living with dementia from diverse cultures

Home is Where the Heart is

This education resource has been created by the Association for Dementia Studies at the University of Worcester to provide teaching materials to support the training and education needs of the domiciliary care workforce.

The education package can be used by anyone with responsibility for education and quality in organisations that provide care for people living with dementia in their own homes.

The programme is made up of three 90 minute sessions that can be delivered all on the same day or sequentially over a number of days to suit the organisation’s needs.

Using a mixture of presentations, video clips, case studies and activities the programme provides your staff with the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills required to help people with dementia from diverse cultures to live well.

We would like you to register to let us know that you are accessing the resources so that we can record the number of people using them but downloading is not conditional on you doing this.

We request your organisation and role for audit purposes, we do not ask for or keep any personal contact details. If you want to know more about the work of the Association for Dementia Studies and dementia environments, please sign up to our distribution list at https://www.worcester.ac.uk/discover/dementia-get-in-touch.html

The resources are FREE to access from here.

If you would like to have all of the resources sent to you as a single package so that the video clips can be downloaded rather than streamed please email dementia@worc.ac.uk to request this.

Guidance for how to use these teaching materials can be found in the Resource Handbook.

We welcome your feedback on how you are using the training resources. Please email this to dementia@worc.ac.uk

If you experience any problems, please also contact dementia@worc.ac.uk

The project to create these resources was funded by the Department of Health.
